This post is special for me as it’s the website’s 100th post! Creating this website was a side project I started to improve on how I express myself, to keep learning and to build a community of people focused on personal growth and continuous learning. Little did I know that this blog will become a full-on website, and more will have an active community. Thanks to the avid community of readers who have supported me in this journey, you know who you are!
I was an inch close to giving up on this project again, similar with the websites that I have built prior, but this was one different. I gave myself a clear and concrete goal, which is to make 1,000 posts, akin to putting in 10,000 worth of deliberate practice to achieve mastery of any skill. If I have created my thousand post and it still didn’t work out, then I’ll redirect my efforts to something else, but at least I can say that I’ve tried.
Initially I thought creating blog posts were all about writing and creating focused content that are informative or expressive, but behind the art of writing, I also had to learn the logistics and the science of creating search-engine-optimized (SEO) articles, making some of the posts look more structured and easier for the readers and search engines to understand the structure of my contents. Learning never stops.
The main point is that sometimes we feel like we already know everything there is to learn- so the activities that used to give us pleasure become mundane or ordinary. Nonetheless, regardless of where you are on your goal journey, you have to always be on the lookout on how you can optimize and make things more efficient- especially in your work life. I think that’s what the “productivity” section of this website is all about.
Shoved into my “adulting years”, one principle that I try to live by and follow is having that sweet spot for my work-life balance. Life is meant for living and if most of your hours are spent thinking about work, then you’re doing life all wrong, my friend. The productivity section talks about ways on how you can optimize your calendar, your work schedule and how you can compartmentalise your life so work tasks stay on work hours, and the rest as time for yourself and your loved ones.
A topic that’s always been close to my heart is about personal branding, and how you present yourself to the world. After all, perception is reality, and how other’s perceive you will shape the reality you are in. From this main topic, came two of my favourite sub-categories which are skincare and style. Skincare mainly because it brings out best self that others can see, and style as it’s a way of living.
Contrary to what people believe in, when people hear the word skincare, the first things that come to mind are skincare products. But as I have reiterated over and again, it’s actually a lifestyle. You have to pay attention to your wellbeing, stress levels, diet, physical activity. Skincare products are just there to help take you to your goal faster. Imagine having an unhealthy lifestyle and just relying on skincare products to do it’s magic, good luck.
Style is definitely more than the clothes- it is how you present and carry yourself, and most importantly how you deal with others. It is the greatest form of art because you get to live your life in it, and you get to create beautiful memories. I also find style as important because it speaks for you without having to open your mouth. Your reputation will always precede you wherever you go.
My personal theme for 2023 that guided my curated experiences and learnings for this year was “discovery and adventures”. It revolved around topics that piqued my curiosity and pushed me far from my comfort zones. This year also enabled me to be more open and authentic with my readership by sharing personal anecdotes, reflections, and unreleased journal entries that I wouldn’t just divulge to anyone. I hope that these reflections and experiences make you think so that we can create a better plan for next year.
Keep on growing with me especially for this coming year, and sign in for our newsletter to get weekly updates of the latest posts about style, skincare, mental health, productivity, and everything you need to have a better life.
